Fat transfer to the penis or vulva can rejuvenate and enhance these areas. This procedure, also known as fat grafting, is designed to restore a more youthful appearance to the female genitalia. For men, fat grafting can enhance the male genitalia by making the penis larger.

Fat Transfer to the Penis

Fat transfer to the penis, also known as fat transfer phalloplasty, can increase the girth of the penis. Adding fat to the shaft of the penis increases its thickness, which can significantly improve self-esteem and sexual satisfaction for the patient. It can also enhance sexual pleasure for their partner.

Penis enlargement with fat transfer cannot increase the length of the penis, but girth has actually been shown to have a greater impact on sexual pleasure and satisfaction than penile length.

Fat Transfer to the Vulva

The vulva is the term for the outer female genitalia. This includes the labia minora (inner lips), the labia majora (outer lips), the vaginal opening and the clitoris. Aging and weight loss can lead to reduced fullness in this area, especially the labia majora. The outer vaginal lips can become thin and wrinkled, which often leads women to become self-conscious about the appearance of their vulva.

Fat transfer to the vulva is a vaginal rejuvenation technique that can restore lost volume in this area to smooth wrinkles and add youthful plumpness.

How Is Fat Transfer to the Genitals Performed?

First, liposuction is used to harvest unwanted fat from the body. Common donor areas include the abdomen, hips and thighs, but fat can be taken from nearly any area of the body with excess that you want removed.

The harvested fat is then purified in a centrifuge to isolate the healthiest fat cells. These cells are placed in syringes and then carefully injected into the labia majora for women or the shaft of the penis for men.

Is Fat Transfer to the Genitals Permanent?

After the procedure, some of the transferred fat cells (approximately 30%) will not attach to the blood supply in the new area and die. To account for this, Dr. DuMorna initially injects about 30% more fat than is needed for ideal results. The body will harmlessly eliminate the dead fat cells through its natural waste elimination processes. The fat cells that survive and attach to the blood supply will remain in the area permanently.

As with fat in other areas of the body, weight fluctuations and aging can affect the size of the fat cells, so it’s important to be at a healthy weight before the procedure and follow a healthy lifestyle afterward to help maintain your results.
