As we age, so do our faces. Skin starts to sag, wrinkles begin to form and we notice an overall loss of facial volume. While facial aging is inevitable, that does not mean you have no say in how you age. Enter the face, neck and brow lift. These cosmetic procedures turn back the clock on aging by lifting the skin, muscles and underlying tissues, yielding natural-looking results that help you look youthful for years to come.

Facial plastic surgery, also called facial rejuvenation surgery, reshapes the face and neck. While there are many reasons people may want or need facial plastic surgery, cosmetic surgeons usually perform it to remove the signs of aging. This form of plastic surgery can:
The practice of facial plastic surgery started over a century ago as a subspecialty of otolaryngology. As a result, facial plastic surgery today is often performed by surgeons like Dr. DuMornay, who are certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery.
Facial rejuvenation can also be accomplished with Fillers, Wrinkle Relaxers and Laser Treatments in combination with or as an alternative to surgery.
Also known as a rhytidectomy, a facelift refers to surgical techniques that “lift” and tighten the bottom third of the face. At Broward ENT & Aesthetics, we offer a traditional facelift, mini facelift and many other options to residents of Fort Lauderdale. These procedures usually involve incisions along the hairline and around or behind the ears. Excess skin and tissue are removed, and muscle and connective tissue tightened.
Most patients requiring a facelift are also candidates for a neck lift. Known to physicians as a lower rhytidectomy, a neck lift addresses sagging along the jawline (jowls), loose skin along the neck and excess fat under the chin. A neck lift can be an ideal solution for patients who have youthful faces but prominent sagging in the neck area, or who desire comprehensive rejuvenation in conjunction with a facelift.
A heavy, sagging brow is a common complaint we see in our patients. We address this concern with a brow lift, also known as a forehead lift. This procedure can bring the brows back to a higher position and minimize the appearance of frown lines and forehead wrinkles. We often perform this surgical procedure in conjunction with a facelift, blepharoplasty or Skin Resurfacing.
Preparation for a face, neck or brow lift is similar to preparing for any other surgery. In the weeks before your surgery, we may ask you to:
We also require you to arrange for someone to drive you back home. Since these procedures are performed under general anesthesia, your ability to drive will be temporarily impaired. You may also want to bring a button- or zip-front shirt to avoid needing to pull anything over your face.
There are numerous techniques used in facial rejuvenation. As a rule of thumb, a typical procedure involves making incisions around the perimeter of the face to help hide scarring. The surgeon then tightens the skin and connective tissue and removes any excess skin before closing the incision.
Facial surgeries are typically done under general anesthesia, so you will not be awake during the procedure. However, a brow lift may be performed under local anesthesia in some cases.
At one of your preoperative appointments, Dr. DuMornay will walk you through the process and respond to any questions or concerns you might have about getting facial rejuvenation surgery.
Most facial rejuvenation surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis. We will give you instructions on what you can expect during your recovery and the steps you should take to promote healthy healing.
Moderate swelling, bruising and pain are normal. Keep your head elevated as much as possible during your recovery to minimize swelling and discomfort. Taking prescription or over-the-counter pain relievers will also help you manage discomfort as your incisions heal. Dr. DuMornay will remove your dressings during your first follow-up appointment and monitor your recovery throughout subsequent follow-ups.
Recovery from facial surgery takes between one and two weeks on average. Stay moderately active during this time to increase blood flow to your head area.
Adverse events with facial rejuvenation surgery are rare, thanks to modern techniques and state-of-the-art equipment. But all surgical procedures carry some risks, including:
You may notice improvements as soon as we remove your dressings, but the final results will be visible in weeks to months as your tissues heal. After a face, neck or brow lift, you can expect a more youthful look and greater confidence in your appearance. The results can last for years, especially when followed-up with other cosmetic touch-ups and good skincare habits.
