There’s no better way to start the new year than with a skin rejuvenation treatment that revitalizes your appearance and gives you a boost of self-confidence. Here at Broward ENT Services, we’re dedicated to helping each person look and feel their best, which includes customized care that targets all of your aesthetic concerns.
Why skin rejuvenation and ENT go hand-in-hand
You may not realize that ear, nose and throat (ENT) physicians also specialize in cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery. It makes perfect sense because ENTs are the face and neck experts, which includes the vital functions of sight, smell, and hearing, as well as the appearance of your face.
In my practice, I frequently perform cosmetic plastic surgery such as rhinoplasty to reshape your nose and blepharoplasty, which renews your eyes by lifting eyelids, eliminating bags under your eyes, and treating fine lines and wrinkles.
To complement my plastic surgery services, I also offer treatments that rejuvenate your skin without needing surgery. When you’re unhappy with lines and wrinkles, age spots, dull skin or acne scars, one of the following skin rejuvenation treatments may be just what you need.
Botox to do away with moderate to severe wrinkles
Botox® is a great choice for skin rejuvenation when your goal is to get rid of crow’s feet, frown lines, or forehead furrows. These deep wrinkles are caused by repeatedly using the same facial muscles, and Botox specifically targets muscles.
The active ingredient in Botox, botulinum toxin, blocks nerve signals that trigger muscle contraction. When I carefully inject a small amount of Botox into the muscles responsible for your deep wrinkles, the muscle and its associated wrinkle both relax. As a result, the wrinkle is significantly diminished and, in some cases, eliminated.
After a Botox injection, you’ll see results in 24-48 hours, and your refreshed appearance lasts up to four months.* When the injection starts to wear off, you can maintain the effect with another Botox treatment.
Dermal fillers to diminish wrinkles and lift your cheeks
Dermal fillers may contain several ingredients, but they all work the same way: They lift and plump up your skin. When I inject a filler under your skin, the targeted wrinkle is immediately smoothed away. You can also get a filler to lift your cheeks and restore lost cheek volume.
Although there are several brands of dermal fillers, as a group, they correct moderate to severe wrinkles around your mouth and nose, contour your cheeks, add volume to your face, and soften fine lines around your lips. The improvement produced by a dermal filler lasts about one to two years, depending on the type of filler used.*
Chemical peels to rejuvenate multiple aesthetic concerns
Chemical peels are incredibly versatile, capable of a gentle exfoliation or of going deeper below the surface to peel away multiple aesthetic concerns. The problems you want to target determine the best type of peel for your skin rejuvenation.
Light peel
A light peel simply exfoliates the outer layer of skin. This type of peel treats dry skin, uneven skin tone, and can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Light peels are gentle enough that you can get another peel every few weeks to maintain your complexion.
Medium peel
If you want to target skin problems like moderate lines and wrinkles, coarse skin texture, uneven skin color, and acne scars, you can count on a medium peel to do the job. This type of peel gets great results by going a little deeper, eliminating the outer layer and the top part of the middle layer of your skin.
Deep peels
Deep chemical peels produce dramatic results. They penetrate to the lower layer of your skin, and as new skin grows to replace the old skin that’s removed, you eliminate sun damage, deeper wrinkles, brown spots, and scars. A deep peel also requires longer recovery time.
